If you are using Mi A1 then you can directly access the Portrait Mode in your smartphone but if you are using other Xiaomi mobiles like Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4, Redmi 5A, Redmi 3s, MI 3, Mi 4, Mi 5, Mi 6, Mi Mix 2, Mi Max etc then we need to some tweaks to perform Portrait Mode on these devices.
Basic Requirement for Portrait Mode in Xiaomi Devices:
- Your Android phone must be running on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) or above.
- Bootloader must be unlocked.
- TWRP must be flashed on your device
- Working Gcam, Magisk 15.2 zip, camera 2 api enabler zip
Your device must be running on Nougat or Oreo to use Portrait Mode on your Xiaomi mobile. Now you also need to unlock your phone bootloader. Steps to Activate Portrait Mode on Xiaomi Mobiles:
- Flash twrp, boot in twrp and swipe to allow modification (Necessary to mount system).
- Flash magisk 15.2 zip then flash camera 2 api enabler
- Reboot to system and install the provided Gcam apk
- Open the app.
- All Set, Done.
Now you can use Portrait Mode in both front & main camera. Enjoy Portrait Mode in your Xiaomi mobile. make sure your device running on Nougat or Above version.

Hi if i install miui 9 on mi a1 , it directly support portrait mode or i should follow above step.
As of now official MIUI 9 not available for Mi A1. So you can’t flash MIUI on Mi A1.
